Hazy, Hot, Humid!

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! I guess I really shouldn't complain about the heat and humidity since it didn't rain much this weekend. Michol and I had a great weekend hanging out with family and friends. We had a nice cookout at the Merriman's on Saturday and got a chance to see the great job Mom and Dad did on the guest bedroom and bathroom. It won't be too long before our cousins from Peru will be here!

We went to our friends Kate and Bryah's house for a cookout and got a taste of what life will be like when Baby Merriman arrives. We had a great time hanging out and watching all the kids expend their energy on the huge bouncy water slide!

Monday was a nice relaxing day of putting some final touches together in the baby's room and letting the pups run around and dig in their designated "playpen". Michol is doing as well as can be. Her official last day of work (until September) was this past Wednesday and she is making final preparations at the house. We are pretty much ready to go at this point.

We also had a chance to hook up with Greg and Heather Novack and the kids for some ice cream on Monday afternoon. I can't get over how big Tess and Will are getting! I am sure they slept like babies last night after all the running around they did!

10 years!

Today is a special day for Michol and I...We have been married for 10 years! It has been a great journey so far and we are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives!

Michol sent me a delicious bouquet of fruit to my office. I managed to devour the cantaloupe and pineapple within seconds of taking the plastic off. I sent Calla Lilies to Michol and the florist added cool aluminum strip to the glass vase. Aluminum is a "traditional" gift for 10 year anniversaries and in case you don't remember, Michol carried calla lilies down the aisle at our wedding so I was glad I could hunt down these special flowers.

We decided to have a low-key dinner at the house and took a car ride, with the pups, for some frozen yogurt at 16 Handles.

We also got a call from Babies R' Us that our furniture is in! I will send pictures once the room is set up. Stay tuned...

Let it Rain!

It rained all weekend and there was not much to do or enjoy, for that matter, outside. I did manage to cut the lawn on Saturday morning before the rain arrived and we were able to get a lot done with the baby's room.

We took everything out of boxes and gift bags from the shower and organized it in the closets. The baby clothes still have to be run through the wash but the room is really starting to come together. We just need to get an area rug and the furniture (crib and dressers), which we ordered on Saturday. Everything will be delivered in about 10 days.

Another few weeks before the big day! Oscar and Laila are definitely ready and can "sense" something is coming soon!

All in a weekend's work!

Happy Mother's Day & Feliz Dia de las Madres!

Michol and I had Grandma & Grandpa (to be) Merriman and Astriab over to the house for a nice brunch. Michol did a great job with the food and and the pups made sure everyone got some slobber on at least one article of clothing. After everyone left, Michol and the pups took a well deserved nap on the couch while I watched Manchester United defeat Chelsea in a great soccer match.

On Saturday we worked on the baby's room some more and we are finally done with painting and installing the chair rail. It'll be nice to finally get things organized and ready for the arrival of......yikes, almost said the baby's name :)

Busy!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Michol and I have been juggling quite a bit over the last couple of weeks with baby showers, baby room finishing touches, yard work, house work, actual 9 to 5 work, and child birth classes. I guess this is a good preparation for what's to come when the baby arrives.

This past weekend, the family hosted a surprise baby shower for Michol. It was great to see everyone who was able to make it and we received such thoughtful gifts...especially the books. We are so grateful to have such great friends and family who will be able to share this next chapter in our lives.

Michol and I completed our final birth class this past Tuesday. We covered the post-delivery stage and worked on some more breathing techniques which will help keep Michol relaxed during the labor stages. We also watched a couple of videos that really gave us an in-depth look at the labor process and actual deliveries...yikes.

Less than 5 weeks to go...getting close!
